Pat Kilmore of Scunthorpe is currently working on her family history and has the Chafer family of Epworth in her family tree.

Above is a photo of Pat's great, great grandfather, Thomas Chafer and his wife Sarah Chafer (nee Tune). Thomas was born in 1821 at Epworth and died in 1910 and was laid to rest in St. Andrew's Parish Church, Epworth.

The photo was probably taken at the Turbary, Epworth.

 

Here is Pat's great grandfather William Chafer. He was born at Epworth in 1847 and
worked on the land for many years. He can be seen here ploughing with two horses.

William was married to Emma Cawkwell who was born in Ireland in 1854.

He worked for his brother in law Fredrick Couch who married his sister Lily.
