The following 1911 newspaper clipping has been sent to me by
Mrs. Sharon Morley Brown of Oregon, USA. It is of her great-great grandfather
and grandmother John Morris and Mary Morris (nee Hilbert). The clipping has been
passed down to Sharon by her grandmother Gertrude Fletcher (nee Morris).
Gertrude with her husband George Fletcher emigrated to the US in 1912 and
settled in San Diego, California. John and Mary Morris passed away in 1913 and
were buried in Haxey Church Burial Ground.
A few more details sent by Sharon is that John Morris's
father was Joseph Morris born in Haxey in 1794, his mother was Elizabeth
Hasselby born in Haxey in 1873. They were married in 1815. Joseph Morris's
father was William Morris and his mother was Elizabeth Wake. Mary Hilbert's
father was Richard Willey Hilbert and her mother was Sarah.
